Unrelated, but in the same issue: I contemplated the 2007 bestselling titles, as reported by Publishers Weekly. Stephen King's Lisey's Story sold more than 700,000 copies in mass-market paperback. Not surprising. Good for him. cf JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hardcover, which sold more than 13 million. 13 million. Reading over the entire list, I am comforted by the high sales of children's books. Because, otherwise, I'd believe that no one reads anymore, and there's no future for books.
